4 Shot at Howe Park - Unauthorized Gathering Turns Violent
On April 18 2026, an unsanctioned event of an estimated several hundred individuals at Howe Park in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade area ended in a shooting when 20 to 25 rounds were fired as Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies were actively breaking up the gathering.
How Events Unfolded
Just after 6:30 PM, the SCSO was notified about persons reportedly carrying concealed firearms at the park. A second report advised of a potential physical confrontation and individuals running from the park.
Law enforcement air support was dispatched and searched the park but did not locate the reported fight.
Despite this, a large crowd had collected at the park for what the sheriff's office identified as an unlawful gathering. Deputies set up around the park, illuminated the area with emergency lights, and took about 15 minutes directing the crowd to leave over loudspeakers.
While deputies were dispersing the crowd, upwards of 20 gunshots echoed through the area — sending hundreds of people running in a panic.
Those Injured
Four gunshot victims — a female and three male victims, all in their 20s — were taken to Sacramento area hospitals. Two were treated for immediate injuries, one was classified with moderate injuries, and one with minor injuries. All four were listed as stable. According to scanner audio, it was confirmed that a related suspect vehicle — described as a Kia vehicle — was stopped in Solano County with four occupants detained.
